-Dr Nick

Tuesday 16th November

Yes, there has been a distinct lack of updated recently, so here goes:

  • AiC would like to thank everyone who turned up to see them at the various stages of the Lithgow Battle of the Bands at the Grand Central. The boys came a commendable 3rd! Congrats to Red B and Level 8 for taking out the top 2 spots. Thanks to the organisers of a very fun event, and of course, those fans who cheered and supported all the bands!
  • Things are a little quiet on the gig front, as AiC hit the studio to lay down a long-awaited EP, slated to be available early in the new year. Working with producer Sean Boucher (who's worked on some very fine acts such as Cog, Dreamshifter, head-cage, and Three Point Tilt to name a few), early indications are that this is going to be a ripper release. The band are saying this is the best they've ever heard their stuff, so it looks like the fans are in for a treat!

Keep an eye on the website here for more news on the CD as well as some returning gigs as soon as they come to hand...

AiC RIP IT UP AT METRO!!!

Hey there peeps...

Well, i dont know about you guys, but i reckon the gig at Transit Lounge @ Metro would have had to be the BEST ONE EVER!!! The boys were headlining an already outstanding bill, and true to form they didnt disappoint, with an 11-song set that was delivered with great intensity and precision. They gave it their all, and the results spoke for themselves... Big word up to everyone involved in getting the gig organised, as well as Kilter, Full Ride 20", One Shot Kill and Ultranoise for some killer sets as well!

And as a special treat (man i hope this works) i have a small video sample from the AiC set available by clicking on the pic on the main page! Now this was recorded with my digi-camera, so the sound is not the greatest, but the vision is pretty good! it turned out alot better than i expected... im kinda disappointed i didnt take some more footage!

There should be pics up later on today, of both the gig last nite and the jam the week before.....

Next gig is still in the pipeline, as well as some possible recording sessions, so keep an eye on the site, for all the AiC happeningingtons. Cuz as soon as the band confirm anything, it'll be up here!

Cyaz

Monday 1st September

Spring is finally here! Roll on the warmer months i say... needs to be shorts weather damn soon :)

AiC have been jammin their little asses off, and it is sounding very "toight"! Death Midler (aka Blatch)  managed to get some geetar tracks immortalised, and according to the controversial Portuguese chicken lover, it was "5 hours of torture it was but hey it's done now! AND it sounds bloody brutal!" Nice work tiger... as soon as all the tracks are done and mixed and baked until golden brown, the tape will be rushed over here to Dr Nick central, and magically transported down the slinky DSL lines and whiz across cyberspace to deliver an aural assault that will leave your desktop a mere bloody carcass of what it once was!!!! (ie, ill rip the damn tunes to mp3 and post em here for y'all to listen to, im a little tired and emotional at the moment :P )

In other, more coherent news, another September gig has been announced (YAAAAAY!) with the boys set to rock the Roma Room @ Metro Theatre once more, on Thursday 18th Sept, with 3 Point Tilt, Full Ride 20", Kilter and Josh Kynaston along for the ride. Should be wi-wi-wi-wikkid!

Don't fake the funk on a nasty dunk,

Sunday 20th July

<start fan rant>

now i know i may be biased since i have a close affiliation with the boys, but they just totally ROKD DA HOUSE on Friday nite! Im so proud of them...theyre my homiez, my niggaz, and any other cheezy hip hop reference you care to mention. From a person who has been to the majority of their shows and rehearsals, this would have had to been their best gig eva!  ive heard their songs grow and change, all for the better. I feel like a proud father :-) For those of you who havent seen them yet, there may be a couple of shows coming up in August, and you just HAVE to see em.... for those of you who havnt seen them in a while, make the effort and come see em again!

A big thanx to Japunga, MM9, Marine Sulphur Queen, Bar Broadway, and everyone involved in getting the gig organised... cant wait for the next gigs! Keep your eye on the website here for all the gig info..

Friday 18th July, 2003

Well how apt that on the day of the AiC gig, I get the word to announce another upcoming gig, this time in the land of politicians and monuments. That's right, the boys are hopping the metaphorical Tarago (i.e. Mary's ute and a couple of cars) and making the trek to our nations capital to perform at the Rockape Bar, in Dickson ACT on Friday 25th July. So if any of you feel like making the trek... or have ppl u know down that way who may be interested, spread the word! Check the gigs section for more details....

Yay....gig week!!

The boys are all super-pumped about this weeks upcoming gig at Bar Broadway, this Friday the 18th July, with Switchblade, Many Machines on 9, and the mighty Japunga out of Bris-vegas. Should be a rip-roarer of an evening, with doors opening round the 8-830 mark for a 9pm kick-off, and entry being round $10 (sorry for my vague-ness, but im still yet to confirm these details with Kraig)

Be sure to also check out Page 42 this weeks Drum Media, where you should see a nice little write-up and piccy of the lads... See the Press section off the pics page for the full article!

See all y'all on Friday nite!
(if you dont turn up, i'll come round your place and bash ya.... well.... maybe not bash ya.... but i'll do something.... not sure what exactly.... might have to consult with the band.... see what they thing is a worthy punishment for such dissent...)

Wednesday 2nd July, 2003

Well, the lineup and running order has been confirmed for the Bar Broadway gig.

It all kicks off at 9pm on Friday 18th July, running order as such:

Switchblade
Art Imitates Crime
Japunga
Many Machines on Nine

This means AiC will be on at about 9:45 or so, but go for the whole nite, as it'll be ripper!

In other news, this weekend is a mini-celebration of sorts, as its my birthday on Sunday, as well as Axe-man-Kraig's on Monday, so we'll be having drinks here there and everywhere, predominantly @ Blink on Fri and Club 77 on Saturday (as EVIL is apparently makin a comeback). So come on down and have a drink with us!

Cyaz,  Dr Nick

Art Imitates Crime have been confirmed for a gig on Friday 18th July, for the Japunga CD launch, along with MM9 and Lalatoa.

AiC blow up the Bat and Ball

Hey there my fave little Art freakies...

Thanks to those who made it along to the Bat & Ball Hotel on Sunday afternoon for our triumphant return gig (as part of the Faultline festival). Word is that the Bat & Ball was bustin at the seams and some unlucky folk had to be turned away!  Art's performance kicked ass and Hamish's vocals were at there blistering best. After a four month absence from the stage he was back to form jumping out of his skin and convulsing on stage much to the delight of 150+ punters.

For those who missed out we should have word soon on your next opportunity to witness Art... stay tuned to this channel.

In other news the website has been updated with a new forum section so I urge you all to sign up and jot down your thoughts and opinions (and occasional insults) re Art Imitates Crime.

We should also have some pics from Faultline up on the site soon.

Love as always,
Death

Thursday  22nd May

Guess who's back? Back again. Art is back!! Tell a friend...

After a 3 month hiatus Art Imitates Crime are poised to return to the stage
on Sunday, June 8 at the Bat & Ball Hotel. It will be the band's first show without Jeff Ryan
on keyboards but the streamlined 5-piece has lost none of its intensity.

The afternoon's entertainment also features Neo Ezi, Scrum and a stack of others.
Mark this date in your diary now as this is set to be a rock shindig to be remembered.
It'll be great to see some familiar faces moshing about in the crowd.

In other news, apologies for the downtime experienced by the website yesterday.
There were issues with the host (employees.org) which were resolved today.
These guys provide a great service, lots of space, and dont ask for much
in return, so i think the odd downtime here and there is bearable ;-)

Tuesday 6th May - Dr Nick

Yes, its been a while in between updates, but thats cuz things have been pretty quiet
The good news is that Art Imitates Crime have regrouped after a short but well-earned breather.
They are back in the studio, unfortunately sans Jeff, but with a fully-recovered Hamish!

The boys have written sum killer new shit, which sounds fan-bloody-tastic.
Some gigs should be coming in the near future, as well as a re-vamped website,
with hopefully a forum as well as some music clips!

Stay tuned...

Lastest AIC happenings

Yes, i know, the website updates have been somewhat lacking of late, and for this, i apologise. Ive been busy OK??
:-)

The AiC boys want to give a huge shout out and thankyou to Gaz for his sensational job at the Roma Room gig. His performance was fan-bloody-tastic, and they boys appreciate the effort he put in. If any of you get a chance to see One Shot Kill, DO IT!!!!

In other news, AiC are taking a slight break from gigging, in order to work on some new material and possibly hit the studio to lay down some tracks to be immortalised forevermore! Watch this space for details as they come to hand...

Guest Vocalist Announced for Roma Room Gig

After a very successful rehearsal last night, Gary from One Shot Kill will be commandeering vocal duties as a special guest for the Roma Room gig on Fri 28th Feb, while Hame takes a well-earned breather.

The band are hella-keen to work with Gaz, so it should prove to be an interesting event. BE THERE!!! :-)

Thursday 13th Feb 2003 - Death Midler

Thanks to everyone who turned up to 3 Pt Tilt and Ochre on Saturday night. An awesome night with quality bands all-round. The Tilt boys ripped out a killer set and for those into the Tool/Cog variety of sounds, don't miss Ochre next time they head down the highway from Brisbane.

Finally, tix for Roma Room show selling fast. Contact art_imitates_crime@yahoo.com.au if you haven't got yours yet. At just $10 it's a bargain (plus it's your last chance to see Jeff in action on the keyboards with Art.
